Refill - reduce using plastic bottles

Refill is a national scheme that signposts where free tap water is available.

Refill works by connecting people who are looking for water with thousands of local businesses, community venues, transport hubs and public fountains where they can refill for free. Anyone can download the free app to find Refill Stations near them where they can refill on the go. Over 20,000 locations have joined the Refill revolution, helping to keep Britain hydrated and free of plastic pollution. Refill offers a free and easy solution for preventing plastic pollution from single-use bottles. If just 1 in 10 Brits Refilled once a week, we’d save around 340 million plastic bottles a year.

Dyfed IT Broadband Update for Yscir

Yscir Ward Broadband

Dyfed Superfast Broadband Update

The installation of The Dyfed Broadband service for the Yscir ward community is underway. The initial connection is going up on the roof of Youngs Carpet Shop. That dish has line of sight to the first mast going up on a field adjoining Aberyscir Common in the next couple of weeks. After that they will determine where the other masts need to be erected. So hopefully in the next few months they will be connecting the first customers
If you are interested and have not completed the grant application form, which covers the installation costs, there will be information packs available at the Yscir sports day on Saturday 18th August.
Cllr Iain McIntosh who is the Community Scheme Project Co-ordinator will be unable to attend so I will be standing in for him to hopefully answer any queries. If you wish to contact him direct either call 07870 655669 or email cllr.iain.mcintosh@powys.gov.uk
Let us hope for good weather for the sports day.

Compulsory Microchipping of Dogs

The Microchipping of Dogs (Wales) Regulations 2015 will come into force on 6 April 2016 and will require all dogs over eight weeks old to be microchipped, and the keepers’ details registered on an approved database. Dogs will still be required by law to wear a collar and tag with the owner’s name and contact details on it when it is in a public place after compulsory microchipping is introduced. For further information about microchipping, please contact your vet or a suitably trained pet care specialist.
